Fathers, Dads, and Daddies ...

Daddy Wisdom
1 We all love you, no matter what.
2 You are never alone, we think about you often.
3 No matter where you go, you can always call home for verbal/moral support.
4 No matter where you go, you can always jump on a plane and come home.
5 If you can not afford it, you have three brothers and parents to help.
6 Follow your heart.
7 Follow your dreams.
8 If you falter, and you won't, we will be here for you.

(A most touching and wisdom-filled quote - borrowed from a friend's BLOG ... thanx' Scottie, hope ya' don't mind ;-) )

There is a vast difference between Fathers and Dads.

Fathers fulfill their duty. They remain responsible to their charge. They are solid, never showing weakness, and are firm in their resolve to raise you "right".

Dads are also sworn to duty, but because they love the effort not because its expected of them. They are responsible toward their charges needs - not the micro-managing of their daily lives. Dads show weakness, fear, concern and are set on raising you "right" (your "right" not everyone else's) by example and experience. Dads are human.

A daddy is one who transcends all these things. They are young and old. Ignorant yet wise. Playful and stern. They are human and yet, somehow, seem to be held above our inherent faults. Daddies are the Yodas of our life -- they may be tough to understand sometimes, may be a bit rough around the edges at others, maybe even short in temper ... but in the end are always there for you, believe in you, and support you no matter what.

..... My toast to daddy seems to be a bit late (seeing as how Father's day falls in June NOT July), but I think I'll make a special effort today to say "Hey" to the old man before the weekend's vortex pulls me away from family yet again.

(( Thank you, dear friend, for the reminder that my own daddy should not be taken lightly or forgotten. ))
